They all enjoyed it. Marla watched a bit with them and she felt it was dark. I do not necessarily agree but I definitely think there are not enough dark movies for families. I will admit that perhaps Ella was a bit too young for this. However, this is exactly the type of movie that Declan and Darby should be watching. After the movie, Darby would not stop asking questions that I wasn't sure if I knew the correct answers. He wanted to know all about the Vikings and Irish monks. He thought it was awesome that there really is a Book of Kells when I showed him pictures on the Internet. He was dumbfounded to find out that in past books had to be copied out by hand. So, in the end, I thought the film and the impact it had on the kids was awesome.
Plus its a really trippy animation style inspired by the Book of Kells.
